Paperlane Editor — frequently asked

What file formats does Paperlane Editor support?

.md, .markdown, and .txt — plain text files, opened and saved directly, no import/export step.

Where are my documents stored?

Wherever you save them — a folder on your Mac, On This Device on iPhone, or the optional Paperlane Editor iCloud Drive library. No Paperlane Editor account.

Does Paperlane Editor sync?

Only if you use the iCloud Drive library, or if you save into a folder that iCloud Drive / Dropbox already syncs. Paperlane Editor does not run its own cloud.

Does Paperlane Editor collect any data?

No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. It's a local, sandboxed app that reads and writes the files you point it at, and nothing else. See our privacy policy.

What versions?

macOS 14 or later. iPhone and iPad need iOS 17.

Is Paperlane Editor free?

Scribe — frequently asked

What does Scribe do?

It records conversations, transcribes them, and turns them into structured Markdown notes — summary, action items, decisions, open questions, and timestamps. See the Scribe page.

Where are my recordings and notes stored?

As real .md files on your device. Edit them, search them, share them, or open them in Paperlane Editor — no Scribe account and no proprietary lock-in.

Does Scribe send my audio to error404?

No. Processing happens on-device wherever possible, using Apple's own technology. We don't run a transcription cloud. See our privacy policy.

What's free vs Scribe Pro?

Free covers recordings up to five minutes. Scribe Pro unlocks unlimited recording length and smart AI documents.

What versions?

iPhone needs iOS 17 or later.

What does Folio do?

It's a complete PDF app for Mac, iPhone, and iPad: rearrange pages, search documents, fill forms, add notes, sign, and export. See the Folio page.

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. Folio works locally on your device — your documents and signatures stay yours. See our privacy policy.
